- In Denmark, I first attended 9 years of public school.
- After that, I went to a commercially oriented business school for 3 years.
- Then I joined a big local Danish company called A.P. Moller Maersk. As part of the job there, I obtained a 2-year Associate Degree in Shipping and Logistics.
- In 2011, I completed the Shipping and Logistics executive MBA at Copenhagen Business School.
- During 2013, I supplemented my MBA with additional Master level courses.
- Since February 2014, I have started my Ph.d. research project about global wind energy shipping and logistics at Aalborg University Copenhagen.
Over time, I have also attended various executive training programs.
Some background and details:
The first years
I started school when I had just turned 7 of age. At that time, we lived in Aabenraa which is situated in the Southern part of Denmark near the German border. I was enrolled in to Hoeje Kolstrup Skole in 1977.
In 1979, my Father got a new job and we moved from Aabenraa to Horsens in the Eastern part of the middle of Jutland. Here, I was enrolled into the local school, Stensballeskolen. I obtained the FUA grauduation at this school in 1986.
EFG and HH
Later in 1986, I entered Business College Horsens to start my 3-year higher commercial examination, first one year of EFG and then two years of HH.
The Maersk shipping school
While working for A.P. Moller-Maersk during the first 2 years, we had to attend the Maersk University. It was about 2-3 hours every morning and we had to pass to not loose our jobs.
Executive training programs
Over the years, I have attended a number of executive training programs. Most notably, I attended several training courses at National University of Singapore (NUS) while living in Asia and at Stanford University, Copenhagen Business School, Aalborg University, and Middlesex University Dubai. Also, I have attended training courses arranged by Joseph Riggio, Siegfried W. Andersen, John Grinder, and the Dale Carnegie organization.
MBA in Shipping and Logistics
In August, 2011, I completed the Executive MBA in Shipping and Logistics at Copenhagen Business School. It was an amazing experience and I feel very priveleged to have gone through this (click HERE to see an interview about it - turn to page 44-45)!
Check out www.shippingMBA.com. This MBA is highly recognized as the best of it's kind in the transportation and supply chain sector (click HERE to read about one of the recent awards of the program). The graduation ceremony was an event I will never forget - see some press coverage HERE.
After the MBA, I wanted to dedicate further time to research the topics I started looking into during my MBA. This has resulted in a very exciting journey where I came up with a concept for a Ph.d. research project, found a university interested, and then together with the university secured the remaining funding required. I started as a Ph.d. Fellow on February 1, 2014 and I expect to hand in the Ph.d. thesis in January, 2017. If you are interested to learn more about this, click HERE.
